The Bliss of Solitude

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
William Wordsworth – ‘I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud’

I find myself on my own more often than not.
This is the perfect time to reflect upon all God’s goodness.
I am thankful for the very many blessings He has bestowed upon me.
There is a sense of poetry in solitude.

You can step back and look and life and situations
discuss them outright with the LORD
and lay it all at His feet.

Jeremiah 17:10
"I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve."

Time flies by so very fast – too fast to waste one moment of it.
To me, enjoying – the moments of blissful solitude enable
me to cherish the moments with loved ones.

It is so very important at times to take a moment to just
Be Still.
In times of solitude you are able to do just that.

Matthew 14:23
After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone…

Today, while listening to soothing music, as I often do – I set for myself a flower-filled placesetting. I feel that when you are on your own it is important to make these moments – even lunch on your own an event.

This is my time to talk with the LORD, take care of myself that I might be and exercise my philosophy of Toujours.

I hope you cherish the moments of solitude that can be blissful and can be poetical.

I wish you the most Delightsome day,

  1. I also need times of solitude, especially when talking with God. I usually go out on the back patio or lay in bed. Your place settings are lovely.

  2. Kathy,
I love to be with people and friends and always with my precious hubby, yet I equally love my soliture. To put music on, write in my journal, simply "BE", shower Him with praises of gratitude, reading....the list is endless. I enjoy my own company because I am a daughter of the King. Such a beautiful post, both the words and the photos. What a charming, charming rose teapot that is! Blessings.
